In order to support Chinese publishers to promote its books abroad, GAPP decides to give translation subsidy.
Three standards for the listed books
1. The copyrights have been claimed and published.
2. The publication should obey Chinese laws and regulations.
3. The publications should contribute to popularizing Chinese culture and helping foreign readers know more about China. The books mainly cover Chinese traditional culture and classical literature that interest foreigners most.
Instructions for overseas publishers to apply for translation subsidy
1). Contact publishers about copyright matters directly or through copyright agencies.
2). Having signed a copyright agreement with the relevant Chinese publishers, the publisher abroad may submit an application for subsidy directly either to the Information Office of the State Council of PRC, the General Administration of Press and Publication of the PRC, Chinese embassies or consulates, copyright agencies or a Chinese partner. The application should be attached with the duplicated documentations of legal certification of overseas publisher and copyright transference agreement.
3). When the application is approved, the Information Office of the State Council of PRC will the sign a publication agreement with the subsidized publisher before granting the subsidy, among which 50% is paid upon signing agreement and 50% upon publishing sample book .
